Marc Curry
May 26-28

Mark Curry, one of the fastest rising stand-up comedians today, made his primetime series television debut with "Hangin With Mr. Cooper." Already the host of the popular syndicated "Showtime at the Apollo," Curry has also starred in his own half-hour HBO special; opened for Whitney Houston at the 1991 Superbowl pre-game concert and has toured with Damon Wayans.

Born and raised in Oakland, California, Curry is the youngest of eight children. Curry always desired to give comedy a try, but didn't have enough nerve to go on stage. After attending California State University Hayward, Curry left college to manage a local drug store. He ended up having his co-workers and customers alike in the store in stitches. It was at their urging that prompted Curry to give comedy a try.

In 1987 Curry made his comedic debut in Oakland eventually becoming the city's most sought-after-stand-up comedian. His tremendous success in Oakland eventually lead to comedy club bookings throughout the country and all over the world. This success finally enabled him to quit his day job at the drug store, and in 1989 Curry began to pursue his comedy career full-time.

Recently, Curry co-hosted "New Year's Rockin' Eve" with Tori Spelling and will be fulfilling his lifetime dream, sharing the center stage and spotlight with his mentor and idol, the legendary Richard Pryor. Curry also appeared in a benefit performance, in which all proceeds benefitd Muscular Dystrophy, at the Wilshire Theatre.

Curry currently resides in Los Angeles and enjoys all sports, reading, watching movies, collecting art and writing comedy. When he is not taping "Hangin' With Mr. Cooper," Curry is performing his stand-up comedy in sold-out clubs all over the country.
